Welcome to the Mission Critical Campaign

 The Mission Critical Campaign:
Advancing Federal Support for K-12 Education Technology

The Mission Critical Campaign (MCC) is a national campaign to advance technology as mission critical for K-12 education.
The MCC is focused primarily on continued funding for the Enhancing Education Through Technology program (Title II-D)
and continuation of the E-rate program to meet the mission critical educational needs of students, educators and parents.

The Mission Critical Campaign aligns all participating stakeholders to the following themes:

  • Technology is mission critical to improving educational opportunity, achievement and success for all students throughout their schooling and beyond.

  • Technology is mission critical for our nation's workforce preparedness and competitiveness in the 21st Century global economy.

  • Technology is mission critical to meet the specific goals of NCLB -- data collection and analysis, ongoing assessment, timely and effective instructional interventions, efficient delivery of supplemental educational services, and parental involvement -- as well as other federal programs such as IDEA and Perkins.

  • Technology is mission critical for increased accountability and systemic school improvement.

  • Technology is mission critical to recruiting, training and retaining highly qualified teachers.

MCC Hosts Successful Press Conference July 12, 2006

Thank you to all of you who attended the press conference and to all of you who helped garner the 7,000 signatures for the petition equating technology with student success.   The press conference was a huge success, with Senator Lieberman (D-CT), and Representatives McCotter (R-MI) and Kind (D-WI) featured congressional speakers, and educator Nina Hansen from Connecticut and Mary Jane Mielke from Michigan sharing their personal experiences about how technology has transformed learning, increased student achievement, and provided students the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century.  Senator Snowe (R-ME), Senator Ensign (R-NV),  and Representative Granger (R-TX) submitted press statements or quotes as they had a scheduling conflict and could not attend the event.
This show of congressional support is a testament to the MCC’s perseverance and united voice in support of the EETT program.

The MCC petition was signed by more than 7,000 stakeholders from across the country.  The petition is in the form of a resolution to Congress equating technology and EETT funding in schools with the nation’s
educational success and competitiveness.  In addition to presenting the petition to Members of Congress at the press event, MCC also delivered the petition to many key Representatives and Senators.

See what educators and community leaders in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Texas have
to say in support of technology in the classroom.
